Chromebooks run on ChromeOS, which does not support certain kinds of web content like Java or Flash. Certain publishers' (McGraw-Hill or Pearson, for example) lab and textbook sites are not fully compatible with ChromeOS. The pop-ups that are blocked are attempting to install necessary plugins for the sites to fully function.
