Where do I go to to find information about different careers?

I need details such as salary, education or training needed, and what is the outlook for that career. Is the market shrinking or growing?

Answer

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook is probably the most current and trustworthy (and the quickest!) online source in which to find the information you need.  It's not a HCC database, so you don't have to log in. It contains information on training, education, expected growth, conditions, and more for a wide array of careers. You'll find the link to this valuable resource below!

Our Career databases are a good place to locate more detailed information, like articles from magazines, newspapers, and journals on various careers and vocational topics and issues. You can click on the "Databases" link from the library homepage and then choose "Careers" from the "Subject" drop-down menu at the top. You might also try the "Multi-subject" category for more options.
