I'm writing an essay for English class. I need to find a peer-reviewed article from a scholarly database.

I need to find a peer-reviewed article from a scholarly database from HCCS Library Databases such as JSTOR, Academic Search Complete, or ProQuest. The article should be either a critique of the short story or a discussion of themes in the works of the writer of that short story.

Answer

The databases you listed are often great places to start. In this case, because you know you're looking for a specific subject (lit crit), it's helpful to look at the databases that focus on English, which include literary criticism. To find these, access the databases from the "Databases" link on the library homepage and then choose "English" from the "Subject" drop-down menu. A couple of good choices are linked below this answer - Gale Literature Resource Center and EBSCO Literary Reference Center.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Remember that these databases will require your HCC "W" number (for students) or your first and last names (for faculty/staff) and personal password. Once you've done this and successfully authenticated, you are redirected to the database.
