You can do this on your own through our library website! It's easy, but it's slightly different depending on whether you're using our library catalog or our discovery system, Encore.
Do you know your library barcode number? You'll need it to request a book! If you don't know your library barcode number, click the link below.
Requesting a book using the Library Catalog
When looking through the library catalog, perform a search for the book. Once you've done this and found the book you'd like to request, click the "Request" link on the right-hand side of the results list. Click this, and the webpage will ask you for your full name, library barcode number, and a pickup location (where you would like the book to be sent). Once you've entered this information, click "Submit" and allow us time to process the request.
Requesting a book using Encore
When looking through Encore, perform a search for the book. Once you've done this and found the book you'd like to request, click the "Request it" link directly below the result. Click this, and the webpage will ask you for your full name and library barcode number. Click "Submit." You'll then be asked to select a pickup location. Once you've done that and clicked "Submit," you're done -- just allow us time to process the request.
Requesting a book in person
You can also go to your nearest HCC library and we'll be happy to show you how! We'll need to see your HCC Student ID card or other form of valid photo identification.
How long does it take?
It takes two business days for a book to get to the chosen location. You should be notified when it arrives by email or phone call. Contact the library for more information.
