As a student, staff, or faculty member in good standing, you are able to access physical and digital library resources. In order to verify your identity, we often ask you for your student ID card, which also serves as a library card. The importance of the barcode varies depending on whether these resources are physical or digital.

With physical resources, such as books, we scan the barcode in order to quickly enter your information into our Integrated Library System and verify that you are an active member in good standing.

From our Library Borrowing Guidelines:

2.106.1.5 An HCC student ID card is required to check out materials. THe library barcode, which is used to check out books, media, and course reserve materials, can be found on the back of the HCC student ID card. The library barcode may also be found by logging in to the Student System account.
